Okay, I really need to get in a plumber over the holidays if they aren't all away on holidays themselves. It has been WAY too long and it's my tradition to bake some bread for my Yuletide picnic. I guess I have just learned to make things without an oven. And not LNG ago I found an online recipe for pan fried bread. It is flat bread, of course, though it says you can use yeast if you want it to rise.
Yesterday I had my first try at pan bread. It was not bad for a first effort and was, indeed, quick and easy. I used rather too much oil in the pan, I think. I will put it on a cutting board with more flour next time and roll it out thinner. I have bought a packet of yeast for my experiment to see what happens when you let it rise before frying. Today I will try some more flat bread, though. And let it cool before eating. I just couldn't wait to try it yesterday and it was rather crisper than I wanted, but quite nice.
I do Iove experimental cooking!
Additional: made some more this morning to have with breakfast of leben with radishes and spring onion, a peach and Earl Grey tea. It was yummy with the leben on it and I got it more flexible. It was a bit like naan, actually, only I think I need some yeast to get it puffier.
